Into Twelve Find a Cleaner Edge on “Burgeon Blue”

The DIY indie-rock project trims the noise and sharpens the intent on a single that feels built for tension. "Burgeon Blue" lands as a compact statement of purpose for the rebels.

I went into “Burgeon Blue” with a clear sense of Into Twelve’s lane. DIY indie rock, for the ones who want to be rebel. The song feels tight, immediate, and emotionally alert, like it is constantly weighing motion against restraint. In the push-pull between forward drive and something more haunted underneath is when the song is at its very best. Into Twelve’s reference points link to Pixies, Guided by Voices, Fugazi, Arcade Fire, Pavement, Joy Division, Yo La Tengo, Hot Chip, and Fontaines D.C., and I can hear that mix of scruff, urgency, and melodic intent in the track’s DNA.  The result is a single that feels like a victory lap and a tightening of the screws, at the same time. That focus gives “Burgeon Blue” its real charge.

Into Twelve’s “Summer” finds a striking balance between raw guitar intensity and a more vulnerable, close-up atmosphere, letting the emotion breathe beneath the noise. The contrast gives the track a compelling push and pull, creating a sound that feels both expansive and deeply personal.

Burgeon Blue

Indie rock project Into Twelve release Burgeon Blue, a new single produced by Andy Savours, the engineer behind My Bloody Valentine's m b v, and the producer of Black Country, New Road’s acclaimed debut album For the First Time. Burgeon Blue is a rebel song inspired by young activists — their urgency, their refusal to look away and their desire to take their lives into their own hands. The track pairs that energy with Into Twelve's sonic touchstones - a snappy bass, scratchy guitars & engaging vocal melodies - and carries Savours’ signature blend of noise and clarity. It is part of Into Twelve’s raw, urgent and conscious body of work.
